Glow Slime

Video

Glow Slime:

Skill: Science, sensory, following directions, and measurements

What a fun science experiment and art project all in one. You can have fun doing this during a Halloween party at school or just a fun activity to do at home.

I have included a video you can see how to make the glow slime.

Felt Pizza

Felt

Felt Pizza

Skill: Counting, Shapes, and Colors

Would you like to do a fun activity with counting? Make pizza! You can use felt; it is easy and fun! After you are done making the pizzas with your students, they can put any toppings on their pizza.  This is a great way to incorporate counting into a fun activity by having your students count the toppings they are putting on their pizza. This would be also good for recognizing colors and talking about healthy foods like veggies and fruit.

Felt Project

Supplies:

  • Felt
  • Scissors

Here's what you do:

  1. Cut out the pieces to create a pizza. I didn't use a pattern. I wasn't going for perfection--just something fun to play with! Here are the pieces you'll need:

    1. 4 brown crust slices*
    2. 4 red sauce slices*
    3. 4 white cheese slices*
    4. Whatever toppings you'd like.

*(to cut the crust, sauce, and cheese slices, I just cut out big circles of each color and then cut them into quarters).

Little Miss Muffet

Paper Cutter and Ellison Machine

Spider headband:

Skill: Oral Language development and small motor development

This is a fun craft to do with children to help reinforce the fairy tale "Little Miss Muffet."  After we were done making our headband spiders we reenacted the Little Miss Muffet story. I had a bonnet and an apron for Little Miss Muffet and the spiders wore the head band. It was adorable!

 You will need the following items;
  • black paper
  • yellow paper
  • stapler
  • glue dots
With a paper cutter cut at least two strips long ways that are about 2 in wide for each student; this will be the band that goes around the students head.
Use the paper cutter and make several 1/2 in by 11/2 in strips of black paper for the legs of the spider. (8 for each student)
With the Ellison Machine, cut two yellow ovals for the eyes for the spider.
Then cut two small circles that will go in the center of the yellow circles for eyes.

Assembling

Staple the two strips of paper together and then measure the strip around your students head. Cut any extra off and staple together.  Let the students add the yellow ovals and the small circles for eyes. Use the glue dots to attach to the band. Have the students add 4 black strips to the sides of the band for legs. You can have the students bend the strips to have them stick out and then glue on the strips.
